Let's read some bedtime stories!
Story 1 – The Cunning Wolf
A wolf found it hard to get to the sheep because of the shepherd and his dogs. But one day the wolf found the skin of a sheep, so it put it on over its own body and walked down among the sheep. The lamb that was the young of the sheep whose skin the wolf was wearing began to follow the ‘wolf in the sheep's clothing’. So, after leading the lamb a little, the wolf soon attacked and ate her.
Story 2 – The Silly Donkey
A donkey once found a Lion's skin which the hunters had left out in the sun to dry. He put it on and went towards his native village. Everyone, both men and animals, fled at his approach and he felt very proud of himself. In his delight he lifted up his voice and brayed, but then everyone knew him, and his owner came up and gave him a sound beating for the fright he had caused. Shortly afterwards a fox came up to him and said, "Ah, I knew you by your voice."
Story 3 – The Fox and The Crow
A fox saw a crow fly off with a piece of cheese in its beak and settle on a branch of a tree. "Good day, Mistress Crow!” fox cried. "You are looking good. Your feathers are shining and your eyes are so bright. I am sure your voice must be the best, just as your body is. Please let me hear just one song from you.” continued the fox. The Crow lifted up her head and began to caw her best, but the moment she opened her mouth the piece of cheese fell to the ground, only to be snapped up by the cunning fox. "That will do," he said. "That was all I wanted. In exchange for your cheese I will give you a piece of advice for the future: Do not trust flatterers."
